For the record, the Redesigned SAT exam, which was first administered in March 2016, doesnt penalize for wrong answers anymore, either. Use POE Before Guessing POE is process of elimination. Each question will have at least one answer that’s way out there. Physically cross off that answer so you won’t be tempted to use it, and you’ll up your odds of guessing correctly. Then go back and see if you can cross off at least one more. Start Easy Answer all of the easy questions first, then move on to the difficult ones. The longer, more difficult questions arent worth any more points than the easier questions. So get all the points you can as fast as you can. The scene emphasises the emotional trauma Essay The slow build up of tension throughout the scene emphasises the emotional trauma suffered by the victims of both Salem and McCarthy. One piece of evidence we can look at that backs up this point is Elizabeths natural lie portrayed by the movie of The Crucible. This scene slowly builds up the tension and highlights the suffering of Elizabeth by slowly zooming the camera into Elizabeths face when Danforth asks her is her husband a lecher. This is deliberately used to build up tension because it is trying to make the viewer or reader feel sorry for her because she also has to deal with the court making her admit to it in front of everybody. However, I believe that Elizabeth is not thinking about what should she say to help her husbands trial, but I believe that she is questioning she really believes that her husband is a lecher. The slow zooming in of the camera angle also suggests that Elizabeth has to search her own heart deeper and got to really ask herself in her own heart whether she believes that her husband is really a lecher her reply is no. This shows the emotional trauma suffered by Elizabeth because she and Miller had to ask themselves a question from within, but the two were slightly different. I believe Millers question I believe was am I really a type of person thatll sell out my friends for my own benefit? After searching deep inside for the answer, both Miller and Elizabeth decide no. Because of this, they had to suffer; Elizabeth had accidentally accused his own husband and Miller had his life ruined, just for standing by their beliefs. Another piece of evidence is the tension given off by the suffering of the people in the court. They are not court officials, which is also evidence to emphasise the emotional trauma of the victims of both McCarthy and Salem. The play starts to build up tension because it says the right door opens on page eighty-two of the stage directions. By saying the right door opens this must mean that there is a left door as well, and the reason for Miller doing this is to tell us through stage direction that the girls have to enter slowly because there is only room for one person to pass at a time. This enhances the affect. Also by making Abigail the last person to enter makes it more dramatic because it shows how strong she is and how many people they have to go through to achieve justice and bring Abigail down. This makes us feel sorry for the people in the play because Abigail is so strong that she can do anything she pleases without the fear of the consequences, but the victims arent as fortunate which only emphasises the suffering in the play because it reminds us that she is responsible for it all. Once again this is an attack on the unfairness of society because of how the bad people can get away without the fear of the consequences and the innocent people have to pay by suffering for the deeds of others. This makes us sympathise with the suffering of the innocent, just like Millers own trial with McCarthy. Finally, there is the tension that is given to us when Proctor makes his damning speech on page ninety-six. This event makes the audience sympathise with Proctor because we, as the audience know that roaring at the court officials wont make them change their minds. Instead it would be used as evidence against you and this makes us want to shout from the audience to tell him dont shout at them! Despite this, the event is made to make us think that he doesnt know that shouting at the officials will be seen as evidence against himself. In fact there is proof that shows that he does. If he does know that shouting will only make the matter worse, why did he do it? The reason is that he is so desperate that no matter how small the chance is of convincing the court that they are condemning innocent people he still has to take it. This gets our sympathy because we feel so sorry for him that he is so desperate he even has to shout at them to try and make the court realise what they are doing is wrong. This relates back to Millers own experience because both Miller and Proctor had to stoop so low to try and convince the authorities by shouting at them, except that Miller did his shouting from the safeness within a play. In conclusion, I believe that Arthur Millers The Crucible is an attack, but only to a certain point. Using evidence I believe that he was really trying to show us two different perspectives. One, is that to find justice you have to be full of justice and fairness as a person. I believe that his second perspective was that he wanted us to see that there is responsibility attached to power and that it is important not to get caught up with the power by itself. This shows us that he is saying; Power can be a good servant, but a bad master.

Statistically, people in one social environment do end to behave differently from people in a very different environment. Social structure are patterns that reflect our everyday lives. Poor people are viewed as the main ones quick to commit crimes. Cultural deviance leads, for example, to the formation of well-organized gangs. If poor behavior in younger children is pointed out early and seek help in advance the problem should be prevented. Most violent behavior with children begin at home then occurs next in school.Young children experiencing delinquent behavior should be seen by a psychiatrist to diagnosis the issues. I am going to discuss n the last part of this paper, what are some possible ramifications for this social policy change. The video that I have chosen for this paper is the â€Å"Senseless Hate Crime† to best fit with my agreements of the social structure theory being the main reason for criminality evolving. Social structure theory is defined as unfavorable cir cumstances among the economic class being the main concern of crimes occurring. If addicts are without their substance he/she will do whatever comes to his/her mind. In the video â€Å"Senseless Hate Crime† on July 2, 1 990, a man named Julio Riviera was killed by a gang known as DMS because he was gay. Riviera was a considered a peaceful man that worked as a bar tender.Riviera was loved by his community and he was trying to escape the violence n the streets in Queens, New York. There were three guys that killed Riviera in a schoolyard in Queens, New York. One of the top suspects was 21 yea r old Daniel Doyle who was a college student that became a violent person in college. Doyle became addicted to drugs and would tease other students at school. He was raised by his parents who raised him to be a respectful and responsible adult. His behavior had changed and Doyle became involved in a gang known as Doc Martens Skinheads.Erik Brown twenty-one years of age and Seat Basic twenty years of age both help brutally murder Julio Riviera. Doyle along with his two friends were out drinking at his house and they left headed out to kill whoever they could find as a target. They ended up finding Mr.. Riviera hanging out and he became their victim. This film was selected because it explains the causes of how an innocent life can be taken. Mr.. River did not know that he was a target to someone murdering him. His life was taken due to irresponsible young adults who abused drug and alcohol.Doyle and his friends chose to join a gang that would forever destroy their lives as young adult s. According to Christian Parents says that, â€Å"when crime is a reusing issue, community infiltration frequently focuses on stopping the violence rather than on broader questions of social justice and economic redistribution† (2000). Mr.. Riviera was a man that was innocently killed by violent young adults, who were under the influence of alcohol. 4 The people in Queens, New Horal felt that the case should have been classified as a hate crime, but Mr.. Riviera autopsy reports revealed he had drugs found in his body.Mr.. River's case was a very disturbing case especially for his family, they believe justice was served, but it took a while for it to occur. The case should have automatically been reviewed as a hate crime. The people of Queens, New York, felt that it was wrong for Doyle and his two friends to have killed Mr.. Riviera for no apparent reason. Law enforcers had to investigate the case a second time to make determination on what to label the case under. His family wanted the right kind of justice served for their victim's murder. The people of Queens, New York believed the case should be considered a hate crime.Doyle testified in court and informed the court that he came up with the idea to kill whoever he could find as a target. Doyle and his two rinds ended up meeting up with Mr.. Riviera. Mr.. Riviera did not assume that his life would come to end on July 2, 1990. River's family were in disbelief that Mr.. Riviera was announced dead due to his sexual status. His sister-in-law Peg Riviera did not believe Mr.. Riviera was not just murdered for doing anything wrong. She did not get to meet her brother-in-law until after 15 years. She would go and visit the bar that he loved and worked. She pointed out that Mr.. Riviera was well liked man in Queens, New York.The people eventually began to fight back for what they believed about Mr.. River's case as a hate crime. The people of Queens, New York, protested until the authorities reviewed the case again before finalizing a decision. 5 According to Payday Halyard and Steve Combs states that, â€Å"For it is clear that various forms of harms are not distributed randomly, but fall upon people of different social classes, genders, degrees of able-bodiless, racial and ethnic groups, different ages, sexual preferences, and so on† (2007). Mr.. River's lost his life because he was gay, but he is still considered a human that is attractive to the same sex.Everyone has the freedom of speech, to believe in what they want to believe n, and rights that are protected that cannot be violated. We as people cannot do not have control over other people's sexual status. Gay, lesbians, and other homosexuals should not be treated any differently than normal human beings. Those that are homosexuals believe in dating the same sex instead of opposite sex. No one should not be murdered because of their sexual status. People that target homosexuals should be given life behind bars without the possibility of parole. Mr.. Riviera was picked on by three irresponsible and uncaring young adults.He deserved to be accepted no matter what he lived in. They are old enough to know that people have feelings and their feelings should matter. Innocent people that are killed because of their sexual status deserves the right kind of justice. Everybody is different in every way, but we all should be able to come together as one in this world. Homosexuality is not a crime and the police cannot arrest anyone for being gay. Homosexuals should be respected because it provides happiness to the couples. If homosexuals are not being respected their rights are being violated. Homosexuals are entitled to make considerations as straight people.They do not have to hide their identity because they represent themselves. They are people who are ready to adopt new ways of doing things. It is a fact that homosexuality is role portrayed in every society. Homosexuals are main targets that are being bulli ed by other people who are against their beliefs. 6 Conclusion Based from the video â€Å"Senseless Hate Crime† a homosexual man named Julio Riviera was killed because of his homosexuality. Three young adults decided to kill an innocent person whoever they saw first as a target. Doyle was the main suspect in Mr.. River's case. Mr..Riviera did not bother no and e work in a bar as bar tender. On July 2, 1990, Mr.. River's life was taken and his death left a toll in the city of Queens, New York. Doyle and two of his companions were drunk at his house party and headed out to take an innocent life. Doyle and his companions did not care who they targeted. Their minds were set on killing somebody. In this case Doyle should have receive life behind bars without the possibility of parole or the death penalty. Doyle and his companions violated Mr.. River's right. They abused his homosexuality rights as being accepted as a homosexual.They are young adults with maturing minds, but they d id not have to target anyone as a victim. They were drunk and Doyle knows how his attitude gets when he is under the influence of too much alcohol. Doyle peer pressured his two companions into murdering someone, but they all were responsible for their own actions. Mr.. Riviera was only hated by Doyle and his two companions. The saying is friends do not let other friends drink alcohol. If Dole's friend really cared for him as a friend they would have tried to change Doll?s mind about his idea. Dole's friend could tried to reach out for help if he tried to effuse their help.

The management gurus perspective of reengineering is repackaging the same management strategies previously given and then sells it to these managers like their brand new. Drawing in particular on the work of Hammer (1999), he points out that he has created another form of reengineering after the new popularity of the internet. He argues that, by linking companies together, internet technologies can create saving and improve productivity by coordinating efforts across corporate boundaries in a process which he dubs intercorporate engineering. Reengineering has done the world good because it has enabled executives to see through the surface structure of their organisations and to home in on their fundamental purpose; delivering value to customers in a way that creates profits for shareholders (Hammer and Stanton, 1999). It can be argued that these management gurus are actors. Thus they claim they have created brand new ideas but behind the scenes these are only repackaged, having only regurgitated the past successful management strategies. This critique suggests hidden agendas in the services the management gurus give to managers as customers. In contrast, this clashes with Hammer and Champy (1993) who have found that: BPR is about beginning again with a clean sheet of paper. It is about rejecting the conventional wisdom and received assumptions of the past. Paradoxically, the management gurus are not BPR (Business Process Reengineering) correctly as it refers to completely starting afresh with a brand new idea and going back to the drawing board. Moreover, perhaps by repacking these ideas on instead of giving radically different ones will keep the management gurus in business since these ideas start to become somewhat of a clichi. As a result, these ideas depreciate and eventually lose their value. This is as revealed by Hammer and Stanton (1996, p. 32) who state: A lot of people embark on reengineering but dont go anywhere because of a failures of intellect or courage. While this may also suggest management gurus fear to experiment with new management strategies, repackaging these successful past ideas do spawn them visits from the managers creating more profits. For instance, Business Process Reengineering and Total Quality Management is the most widely recognized, if not practiced, organizational improvement initiative (Burdett, 1994). Furthermore, this explains why gurus are reluctant to using any alternative method that devises management strategies apart from business process reengineering, as there is a risk of creating an unsuccessful one. This would ruin their reputation as experts and thus jeopardise their popularity. Thus, reengineering can be a last resort for management gurus as they can be assured a successful idea to sell on to their customers.

Analysis of the Prejudice behind the Removal of Mexican American Lessons Freedom of speech is just one of the many rights we ensure as citizens of America. Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, or so it’s said. Sadly, it seems as though that’s not always the case. In the instance of the ban of Mexican American Studies in Arizona, the opinion of those who didn’t fully understand the concept was taken over the students and teachers fighting for their rights to education as United States residents. The decision to ban the Mexican American Studies was a biased decision and it does not make America appear equal when it comes to racial identity. When these ethnic studies were officially banned, it constituted a form of oppression for the folks who were affected by this action. The teachers whom all the students in these classes looked up to were reassigned and the bond the students had built with each other and their teachers was taken away. For some, coming to school and learning about their own heritage was a life changing experience. â€Å"Providing students a way to interact with notions of identity, history and culture in an academic setting clearly improved the graduation rates of low income Hispanic students† (Ramos 1). It gave them hope that someday things would get better, and it even created a sense of belonging in today’s society. But the individuals who supported the ban did not take the time to actually experience what went on in these classes. â€Å"The state legislature contends that these programs are indoctrinating students with anti-American biases but there has been no such evidence to suppo rt this claim† (Ramos 1). They just assumed the teachers were giving Americans a bad name for how poorly they treated Mexican Americans in previous years and wanted these students to eventually â€Å"overthrow† the government. These assumptions were certainly not the intentions of the teachers, in fact the actual intentions were just to show the students they had rights as Mexican Americans and deserved to be treated equally. Forbidding these students to obtain knowledge about equality is definitely a form of oppression. America, as a whole, has a history of poor treatment for races or ethnicities other than white, and this forbidden Mexican American Studies ban in Arizona could be the foundation of additional bans around the country. If that begins to happen, it could cause a lot of controversy nation wide with Mexican Americans because it is preventing them from learning who they really are. â€Å"The Arizona ethnic studies ban has more to do with the politics of our countries changing demography and political power then they do with educational attainment and what is best for the future of the state† (Ramos 1). This makes America look like a racist country because its citizens are disposing of the opportunity to study the history of differing races. As one student stated, â€Å"America is full of people with different backgrounds. If learning ethnic studies is anti-American, then what does it truly mean to be American?† Regrettably, it appears to mean that Americans can be very judgm ental toward others not similar to them. It’s quite unfortunate that the definition of an American is questionable. The country is constantly changing, and those who are surrounded by it must adapt. At the core of the Ethnic Studies ban is fear; much is at stake for each side. The side opposing the education of these studies is prominently made up of white officials high up in the government. They are afraid of a prospective uprising of the Mexican Americans and what consequences that may cause. There are numerous points to be taken into consideration, such as government positions potentially taken over by Mexican Americans instead of the Caucasians currently holding the positions. These white officials undoubtedly mull over the idea of losing control of the government, so to avoid any possibility of this happening they took the easy way out and got rid of any threat they may have had. The ban was placed on courses that meet the following criteria: 1) â€Å"promote the overthrow of the United States government;† 2) â€Å"promote resentment toward a race or class of people;† 3) â€Å"are designed primarily for pupils of a particular ethnic group;† or 4) †Å"advocate ethnic solidarity instead of the treatment of pupils as individuals† (Lee 1). This created a safety net for the opposing side by making sure no class like this would be taught again in Arizona. â€Å"The reality is the ethnic studies ban in Arizona is nothing more then a byproduct of a state legislature which has become adept at manufacturing crises in order to win elections† (Ramos 1). The sad reality of the situation is the fact that power is more important than the history of an entire race. The side attempting to save the Ethnic Studies assembled the Mexican American students and teachers who believed in the program and it’s success. They were fighting for their rights as American citizens for freedom of education. Not only that, but the future was at stake for almost all of these individuals. For the students, these classes kept their interest in school and education as a whole. Many anticipated graduating, going off to college, and eventually making a life for themselves. â€Å"A Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) analysis revealed the MAS programs improved the graduation rates of low income Hispanics† (Ramos 1). This shows that the curriculum immensely aided to the success of the teenagers taking the course. Without it, several of these adolescents could potentially lose interest in school and not persist with the plans they once had. It was very ironic when the new law stated â€Å"the legislature finds and declares that the public school pupils sh ould be taught to treat and value each other as individuals and not be taught to resent or hate other races or classes of people† because in their classrooms, they were all treated with dignity and respect and were taught that they had rights, too (Lee 1). Banning the Mexican American Studies is resent or hate toward the Mexican race, so the legislature is very hypocritical and unfair. The Mexican American Studies ban in Arizona was an unfortunate event for a multitude of Mexican American students and teachers. It removed so many opportunities for these people, and could potentially change the future for some. â€Å"Bottom line these programs help the educational attainment of those that need it. If there is a crisis, it is in the leadership of the Arizona State legislature, which has chosen to manufacture a controversy, when the focus should be on how best to educate Arizonas future workforce† (Ramos 1). Numerous controversies could occur and that would cause a great deal of problems. Equal rights should be dispersed for everyone living in the same region, no matter the ethnical differences.
